Design a Bookmark Competition

National Book Tokens are the perfect way to inspire children to read. They create a lifelong passion for books by giving them the chance to discover millions of titles in bookshops across the country.

Ask your school children to design the front of a book-themed bookmark using this template, and send it to us by Friday 20th April 2012. A panel of judges will select a winner and runner-up from each of the three age ranges, along with an overall winner. The winning design will be made into a bookmark and distributed to thousands of bookshops nationwide (subject to the winning design being suitable for use as a bookmark, all or part of the design will be published.)

Thousands of brilliant entries were received last year and winners all received National Book Token prizes.

Age Ranges

Each school should select their entries in the following age ranges:

  • up to 8 years
  • 9-12 years
  • 13-16 years

Prizes

First Prize in each age range is:

  • £250 National Book Tokens for the school
  • £100 National Book Tokens for the schoolchild
  • £100 National Book Tokens for the teacher

Runner-up prize in each age range is:

  • £150 National Book Tokens for the school
  • £50 National Book Tokens for the schoolchild
  • £50 National Book Tokens for the teacher

The winners will be announced in June and the closing date for entries is Friday 20th April.

All entries should be produced on A4 paper, portrait format, according to the template (h 160mm x w 42mm).

Every entry must be signed by the teacher, who must print in capitals on the reverse of the entry: Pupil’s full name and age, the school name, address and phone number.
