Every year thousands of events are organised in schools, bookshops, libraries and other venues to celebrate World Book Day. The variety and number are impressive, demonstrating how big the celebrations are all over the country.

Requests for book reviews from children aged 15 and under were sent out to local schools. Selected reviews are displayed in the Children's section and the children awarded with a 'Dubray Certificate of Appreciation'. Local schools are invited for shop visits throughout the month. Headless Harry Potter: There is a headless cut-out of Harry potter for in store photo opportunities.

Swindon Academy are having a week long celebration of World Book Day! On Monday 3rd March the week started with a visit from author Sam Enthoven: attended by 60 Year 8, 50 Year 7 and 60 Year 6 students, plus Year 11 and 12 representatives. On Monday and Tuesday: Year 8 students read their own BIG BOOKS - written, illustrated, made by themselves - to Year 3 children. On Thursday: Story Telling Marathon: a day long storytelling session to students from Nursery - Year 6. Staff will read stories to small groups of hildren throughout the day. Focus on male reading role models.
