Facebook Live Bedtime story with Roald Dahl’s Reading Bugs!

« Back

We’re delighted to announce that on World Book Day, Thursday 1 March at 7pm,  we’ll be sharing a giant bedtime story via Facebook Live.

Tune in and join Roald Dahl’s Giant Bugs for a rambunctious re-telling of James and the Giant Peach. But who will be the peach’s wandering troubadours? Will it be wise old green-grasshopper or marvellous miss spider? You’ll have to tune in to find out. Remember, it takes just 10 minutes to share a story – so don’t be late! World Book Day’s not over until the centipede sings . . .

If you’ve not read it before, or if it’s an absolute favourite, here’s a flavour of the story. James Henry Trotter lives with his two aunts who are ghastly hags. Aunt Sponge is enormously fat with a face that looks boiled and Aunt Spiker is bony and screeching. He’s very lonely until one day something peculiar happens. At the end of the garden a peach starts to grow and GROW AND GROW. Inside that peach are seven very unusual insects – all waiting to take James on a magical adventure. Check out the new edition which for 2018 only comes with free fuzzy bug stickers inside!
