This year, Independent Bookshop Week will be taking place from 20-27 June. Now more than ever we need to support all the amazing independent bookshops across the country who make buying books such a wonderful experience.
With many hoping to open their doors again on Monday 15th June, there are also lots of other ways you can help support them in the meantime. Many are still running ordering services for delivery or click and collect so why not place an order for the next book on your TBR pile? Or you could shout about your favourite by tagging them and sharing with @booksaremybag using #IndieBookshopWeek?
The shortlist for the Indie Book Awards has also just been announced. Here are the brilliant titles in the Picture Book and Children’s Fiction categories. See the full list here.
Independent Bookshop Week is part of the Books Are My Bag campaign and run by the Booksellers Association, and seeks to celebrate independent bookshops in the UK and Ireland. They do this with events, celebrations, reading groups, storytelling, author signings, literary lunches and face painting! Your local bookshop will have their own way of celebrating, and we encourage you to find out what they’re up to so you can celebrate with them.
