Every year, schools, nurseries and families across the country fundraise as part of their World Book Day celebrations. Thanks to these wonderful organisations and individuals, we can bring books to the children and young people who need them most – with World Book Day providing books in the UK and Ireland and Book Aid International sending books across the world.
The funds you raise will help us to:
- GIVE EVERY CHILD A BOOK OF THEIR VERY OWN
A donation of £1 helps us to get £1 Book tokens and books to every child, through every school or nursery, across the UK and Ireland. Every year children look forward to receiving their £1 Book token, and for 1 in 3 child receiving free school meals the World Book Day £1 Book is the first they have had of their own.
… - CHANGE LIVES ACROSS THE WORLD
Help Book Aid International send books to children in some of the poorest communities around the world. Every £2 you give helps send another book that can enrich, improve and change lives. Last year, schools raised enough to send 47,335 books to the people who need them most.
… - BRING FAMILIES TOGETHER THROUGH BOOKS
Get World Book Day books to family visit days in every prison across the UK. A donation of £1 helps families to start reading together and helps make family visit day happy and memorable.
… - ENCOURAGE READING FOR PLEASURE FOR ALL AGES
Work with local communities, with BookTrust, National Literacy Trust, The Reading Agency, to deliver exciting activities to encourage reading together, and to get books to areas that need most help. £1 makes sure that 10 children receive a £1 book of their own.
… - GET BRAND NEW BOOKS TO CHILDREN IN HOSPITAL
Join thousands of schools and children taking part in a sponsored Readathon on World Book Day, to help bring the magic of books and storytellers to children in hospital around the UK
