The charity World Book Day has announced Kathryn Davis as Vice Chair of the trustee Board, chaired by Emma Scott as it continues its mission to unlock the benefits of reading for fun for more children.
Emma Scott, Chair of World Book Day said: “I am delighted to welcome Kathryn Davis to the Board of World Book Day as Vice Chair and Trustee. Kathryn brings significant non-executive experience and a huge enthusiasm for World Book Day’s cause. I am looking forward to working with her as we continue our growth and transformation strategy for the charity. Kathryn’s senior-level legal and governance experience from her executive career at Slaughter and May and as a NED and Vice Chair on major education and housing boards will be greatly beneficial to our work.”
Kathryn Davis, Vice Chair said: “As a voracious lifelong reader with personal experience of the power of reading as an enabler of social mobility, I am delighted to bring my skills and experience to the table as a trustee of this impactful charity with its focus on the fun of reading and the many benefits this confers on children. We urgently need to stem the current downturn in children’s enjoyment of reading and World Book Day has a significant role to play in that task. I look forward to supporting the passionate and dedicated executive team in fulfilling that role.”
The appointment is announced following another successful annual campaign for the charity.
