How Does World Book Day Work? « Back

Thanks to National Book Tokens and lots of lovely book publishers and booksellers, World Book Day will be distributing more than fifteen million £1 (or €1.50 in Ireland) book tokens to children and young people, in partnership with schools all over the UK and Ireland.

Tokens are valid during World Book Day month from Thursday 27 February – Sunday 29 March 2020. All you need to do is to take your token to your local bookseller and swap it for one of the FIFTEEN exclusive, brand new and completely FREE World Book Day books, including ONE Irish title and TWO books exclusive to Wales.

Or, if you’d prefer, you can use your book token to get £1 (or €1.50 in Ireland) off any full price book instead.

You can see more here.

World Book Day encourages reading for the rest of the year too and we’ve got a whole range of resources including lesson plans, activity sheets, discussion guides and more.

Just visit the Nursery, Primary or Secondary resource areas to find what you need.

Throughout the rest of the year

World Book Day encourages children to enjoy benefits of reading for pleasure, through activities, resources and inspiration throughout the year.

We also have monthly lists of new book releases, to encourage children and young people of all ages to get reading.

You can hear from your favourite authors in one of our author Q & As.
