Many incredible Super Heroes have joined the Avengers. Meet just a few of them!
Captain America: Steve Rogers was injected with Super-Soldier serum, transforming him into Captain America and giving him superhuman reflexes and endurance. He later became part of the Avengers, instantly bonding with Iron Man, Thor, Ant-Man and the Wasp. As leader, Captain America recruited other members such as Hawkeye and the Scarlet Witch, and steered the team through many dangerous events.
Black Widow: The orphan, Natasha Romanoff, was brainwashed into becoming a top spy in Russia’s “Black Widow” programme, where she was injected with an experimental serum to keep her young and increase her ability to heal from injury. Hawkeye (Clint Barton) persuaded her to reject a life of crime and join the global security agency S.H.I.E.L.D. Black Widow’s wrist gauntlets include all kinds of spying equipment, including a device called “Widow’s Bite” that gives powerful electric shocks.
Black Panther: The amazing Black Panther has superhuman senses, speed and strength. Named T’Challa, he is king of the African nation of Wakanda. Black Panther’s costume is laced with Vibranium, which grants him the ability to land without injury. His gloves can generate energy daggers, and his claws can dissolve other metals. While travelling, he becomes friends with Super Heroes such as the Fantastic Four and the Avengers.
The Hulk: Scientist Bruce Banner transforms into the Hulk when he is agitated or angry – and the angrier he is, the stronger he becomes! As the Hulk, Bruce has superhuman healing and strength. He can also breathe underwater, survive in the ocean’s depths and outer space, and leap hundreds of miles at a time. These skills are highly useful to the Avengers – though they must always keep an eye on Hulk’s temper.

What the Toppsta reviewers think:
‘My son loved this book. It’s packed with information about all of your favourite Avengers superheroes, including pictures, factfiles and quizzes… One of the best things about the book was that it introduced the Avengers as comic book characters, as well as movie stars. This might work as an introduction to seeking out the comic books and reading them for some readers. This is a bright and colourful book which any superhero fan will love.’ – redrosemummy read to Bud, age 7
‘This Avengers book is filled with facts and really colourful pictures. It introduces all the Avengers characters that people know from the movie franchise but also some of the comic book favourites too. It is perfect for any fans of superheroes. This book is simple enough for younger readers yet also interesting for older kids who are into Marvel.’ – Rory, age 10
‘This is a great offering for World Book Day. There’s so much to discover about loads of the Avengers as well as their arch-enemies… Lots of great comic-style illustrations feature throughout’ – Hubble read to Jakeydoo, age 4
‘My son loved this book. He is a big fan of the Avengers but is a little too young to see the films so this book was perfect for him. He got to find out a lot of facts he didn’t already know about his favourite characters. He was also introduced to a few heroes and villains he hadn’t heard of before. He especially enjoyed the quiz at the end of the book where he got to test out his new superhero knowledge. The colourful illustrations are great and the characters are drawn in the comic book style of the Marvel world.’ – Amy read to Noah, age 7
