What the Toppsta reviewers think:

‘This is a lovely book. It is written by Nadiya Hussain of ‘Bake Off’ fame who now has a lot of her own cookbooks. In this book she shares two stories and two recipes that are linked … There is lots of help and guidance at the start of the book about how children can stay safe when baking. The book also contains some fun games at the end including a word search and spot the difference pictures. We really enjoy baking together as a family so loved the idea of having recipes linked to stories. We haven’t tried to make the recipes yet but will definitely be making the bread soon. We loved the two stories and the colourful illustrations on each page. A great idea for a book!’ – Amy read to Noah, age 7 and Flynn, age 4

‘This is a lovely little book with two very entertaining stories which both of my children really enjoyed listening to. ‘The Little Red Hen and her Bread Friends’ and ‘The Elves and the Choux Maker’ are both modern takes on traditional stories and my children really liked them. They were even more delighted that the bread and the curry recipes from the stories were included in the book too so we’re all looking forward to trying those out at the weekend.’ – Pamadew read to Madmoo, age 7 and Ewbomb, age 4

‘I read Nadiya’s Bake me a Story with my mum before I went to bed.  I like the stories especially the twist Nadia puts on them the Elves and the chouxmaker was especially funny.’ – Belllboo, age 10

‘I read this with Finn. We enjoyed the stories and the illustrations were lovely. Although we haven’t yet tried the recipes it has inspired us to start doing more cooking together again and will be trying the bread recipe. It’s a really good concept and I think we will invest in the full book for more story and cooking adventures. Finn also enjoyed the puzzles in the book which were perfect for his age.’ – Helen read to Finn, age 5
