ReadingZone is challenging children and young people aged 4 to 18 years to create a picture book for World Book Day! The competition is open to individual children, libraries and schools in the UK and internationally, and is a great book-based activity for World Book Day.

Children can create their picture books individually or in groups, using any media, and any length up to 24 pages, plus cover (28 sides in total). A4 pages are preferred, but this can vary.

The competition closes on closes on midnight on Friday 21st April 2023. Author and illustrator Elys Dolan (How to Make a Picture Book, Mr Bunny’s Chocolate Factor etc) will select the winning picture book entries across three categories: Young Creators,  Primary,  and Secondary. Prizes include £200 of books for each winner’s school or library, plus a free online author event for the overall winner.
