Book Doctors!

Worle Community School, Weston-super-Mare

Several times I have organised for some of our staff to dress up in white lab coats. They have thermometers (laminated pretend ones) doctor’s badges, stethoscopes and most importantly, reading prescriptions. They are the Book Doctors!

They are on hand with medicine (jelly beans in a little glass jar labelled ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’) to take students temperatures and prescribe a reading remedy. The prescriptions all recommend a genre the student needs to read to help them recover. They are given some ‘medicine’ too and sent on their way.

Our students love this and it is relatively quick to do.
