Participating retailers

Bookshops help to create the £1/€1.50 token and £1/€1.50 book exchange that is so important to World Book Day and to children.

Booksellers give the £1/€1.50 books to children for free in exchange for the £1/€1.50 token.

We work with a variety of different retailers from high street book to independent bookstores.

The redemption period for World Book Day 2026 £1/€1.50 tokens is from Thursday 12 February until Sunday 15 March 2026. You can redeem your World Book Day £1/€1.50 book token at the following retailers:

  • Your local independent bookseller
  • Argosy
  • Asda
  • Blackwell’s (selected stores only)
  • Easons
  • Foyles
  • Sainsburys
  • Tesco
  • The Works
  • Trago Mills
  • Waterstones
  • WHSmith

This year we are also working with 40 libraries across the country who will be hubs where children can exchange their £1/€1.50 book tokens for a £1/€1.50 book.

Please check with your local store before you visit to see if they stock the £1/€1.50 books. To find your nearest participating bookseller, from December, we will be showing an interactive map on this page.
