These printable World Book Day bookmarks are designed to help children share book recommendations and encourage reading for fun.

Each A4 sheet includes four bookmarks. Cut them out and fold them in half to create a double-sided bookmark. One side features a World Book Day character, and the other invites children to recommend a book to someone else.

Why it works

Bookmarks are simple, low-cost and easy to use. They help children practise talking about books, sharing opinions and recommending stories, without needing costumes or special resources.

What’s included

Colour and black and white versions are available. Both include space for “Here’s my idea for what to read next” and “You’ll love this because”.

How to use the bookmarks

  • Ask children to write a recommendation for a friend, classmate or family member
  • Use them during World Book Day as part of book talk or sharing sessions
  • Add them to class libraries so children can recommend books to each other
  • Send them home to encourage reading conversations beyond the classroom
