Pippa Goodhart has had more than one hundred and forty books published, ranging from picture books, through early reader books, to middle grade novels. Her best known picture books are the You Choose series illustrated by Nick Sharratt; her best known early readers are the Winnie the Witch storybooks written under the fake name of Laura Owen and illustrated by Korky Paul; and her best known middle grade novel (winner of the Young Quills Award for best historical novel for children) is ‘The Great Sea Dragon Discovery’. Pippa began her book career by working in Heffers Bookshop in Cambridge, becoming manager of its Children’s Bookshop, then worked freelance for the children’s book editors at Oxford University Press, before beginning to write books. She does lots of primary school visits and she also teaches adults who want to write for children.
Author and illustrator Nick Sharratt has created illustrations for over two hundred and fifty books. As well as producing around sixty of his own titles he’s worked with writers including Julia Donaldson, Kes Gray, Michael Rosen and Giles Andreae, and most famously with Dame Jacqueline Wilson, for whom he’s illustrated more than fifty novels. His books include ‘Ketchup on Your Cornflakes?’ and the million copy-selling You Choose (written by Pippa Goodhart) and Shark in the Park books. His work has won many prizes, among them the Storytime Book Prize, the Bookbug Picture Book Prize, the Nestlé Smarties Book Award and the Children’s Book Prize. He has been the official illustrator for World Book Day and You Choose and Shark in the Park have both been adapted for the stage.
