The Bear Rescue activity pack supports the 2026 World Book Day £1/€1.50 book and includes simple prompts and activities that help children explore the story, build reading confidence and enjoy reading together. With book chat questions from Coram Beanstalk and creative ideas from My Kind of Book, the pack introduces themes of courage, friendship and the Arctic environment before children even open the book.
Why it works
The activities introduce the story in practical ways and build curiosity. Short tasks encourage discussion about the Arctic, animals and teamwork. In addition, creative games and sensory play help children recall the plot and talk about characters. As a result, adults can support reading for fun while developing confidence and listening skills.
How to use it
Use the pack as a warm-up before reading or as a follow-up activity. For example, adults can:
- try the Arctic survival game to discuss choices and safety
- use the Ice Rescue activity to explore cause and effect
- make the mini snowstorm activity to prompt sensory talk
All activities work with or without the book. They suit short classroom sessions, family time at home, and library groups.
