This downloadable activity pack accompanies the video story of My Presents.
The activities are designed for children in Early Years and Years 1 & 2 and support shared reading at home, in classrooms, or in nursery settings.
My Presents is a lift-the-flap story by Rod Campbell, published by Macmillan Children’s Books.
These activities encourage children to explore, talk and respond through play.
Why it works
The pack supports reading for fun and shared storytelling. Children explore the story through drawing, tracing and counting.
The activities also help children connect the story to birthdays, gifts and everyday experiences.
What’s included
The pack includes five simple activities inspired by My Presents. They are flexible and easy to use at home or in the classroom.
Children can watch the video story together, pause to talk about what is happening, and then try the activities.
What’s inside
Children follow tangled trails to find out what is inside each present.
My present
Children trace over dotted lines to reveal a hidden picture, then colour it in.
My birthday
Children draw a birthday present and write their name on the tag.
Patterns
Children trace patterns beside each present using a finger or pencil.
How many
Children count the pictures in each row and write the numbers..
