This downloadable activity pack accompanies the video stories of Tales from Acorn Wood: Colours and Tales from Acorn Wood: Counting.
The activities are designed for children in Early Years and Years 1 and 2. They support shared reading at home, in classrooms or in nursery settings.
These stories are based on the lift-the-flap books from the Tales from Acorn Wood series by Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler, and published by Macmillan Children’s Books.
These activities encourage children to explore, talk and learn through play.
Why it works
The pack supports reading for fun and shared storytelling. Children explore colours and numbers through simple, active learning.
The activity also helps children connect the stories to everyday objects at home, in school or outdoors.
What’s included
The pack includes one flexible activity inspired by both video stories. It is easy to use at home or in the classroom.
Children can watch the video stories together, pause to talk about what is happening, and then try the activity.
Colours and Counting Hunt
Children cut out colour cards and number cards from one to ten. They find matching colours and count groups of objects around them.
