World Mental Health Day takes place on Thursday 10thOctober with the aim of raising awareness, improving education and banishing the stigmas surrounding mental health.
For many young people, books and reading can be a good way of dealing with difficult situations or emotions – whether that’s through learning more about the experience they are struggling with, feeling empathy with characters who have similar feelings, or just being able to escape into a story.
We’ve put together a list of reading recommendations for children and young people who might feel they need some emotional support – it’s called Looking After Yourself. We also have a Reading for Empathy book list as well as a whole host of brilliant recommendations for stories in which to lose yourself.
Mental health issues can affect people of all ages in any situation. To find out more go to https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk
