World Book Day 2021 Announcements

« Back

We are thrilled to have announced at the Booksellers’ Children’s Conference all the exciting new developments we have in store for this year’s World Book Day campaign. We’re so pleased to share the new World Book Day Book Club and Share a Story corner, as well as the exciting new line-up for 2021’s £1 books. We hope we can encourage even more children to get involved in reading for pleasure with our Share a Story live events and also fun interactive Book Club sessions!

Check out all the new World Book Day books here. Alongside the 12 new titles, we have one exclusive World Book Day Ireland £1 book and a new World Book Day Welsh title.

The Bookseller’s Conference this year took place as a live digital event, and it was great to see so many people tune in and have such enthusiastic responses. Our CEO Cassie Chadderton spoke with three of our brilliant £1 book authors about what World Book Day means to them, and how storytelling can be more important than ever in times like these. Our exciting panelists were:

Joseph Coelho, author of Luna Loves World Book Day.

Katherine Rundell, author of Skysteppers.

Sita Brahmachari, author of The River Whale.

We also shared updates about the very exciting new projects we have coming up: Share a Story Corner and World Book Day Book Club! Our campaign plan for the upcoming years will aim to reach more children that ever before. We want to make sure every child has access to books, and our upcoming events – all digital for the year ahead – will help children enjoy reading for pleasure as a life-long habit.

The new £1 books will be available from February 2021. Register for World Book Day here to secure your £1 book tokens, and read more about the £1 book line-up here.

World Book Day is a charity funded by publishers and booksellers in the UK and Ireland.
