Thank you for supporting us

You’re helping us bring the life-changing benefits of reading for fun to more children and young people.

We champion the fun of reading because it seriously improves lives.

Reading for fun is the single biggest indicator that a child will grow up to enjoy a happier and more successful life – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational backgrounds or their income.

But here’s the challenge: It’s at an all-time low, with only 1 in 3 children now saying they enjoy reading. We believe children are more likely to read if they enjoy it, so we’re on a mission to encourage them to see reading as an entertaining, social and fun thing to do. We want more children to grow up with a lifelong, life-changing habit of reading for fun, and all the benefits this brings.

Fundraise in your school

World Book Day is all about reading for fun. It’s not about creating rules or telling children they should read because it’s good for them. Instead, they get to choose a book they want to read, and take part in celebrations that inspire them to see reading differently – as a fun, entertaining and social thing to do.

Celebrate World Book Day in your school with fun and engaging activities such as book clubs, book swaps, and even dressing up as your favourite characters. These events are a great way to bring students and staff together while raising money for your school and our charity.

Celebrate World Book Day in your workplace

Celebrate World Book Day for grown-ups in your workplace or community with events such as book clubs, book swaps, bake and book events, book ‘secret-Santa’ gifts and even dressing up if it takes your fancy, raising funds for our charity.

Every bit of additional funding helps us enable more children to choose a book they want to read and take part in celebrations that inspire them to see reading differently.

Give every child a book of their own

Your donations help us get book tokens and books to children across the UK and Ireland. For 1 in 4 children receiving free school meals the World Book Day £1/€1.50 book is the first they have had of their own.

Encourage more children to read for fun

By making books fun and accessible, we transform attitudes to reading encouraging more families, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to enjoy books together.

I’m an organisation that wants to work with World Book Day

We work with a number of carefully chosen partners who share our belief in the power of reading for fun. If you’re a values-driven brand and want to help us reach more children, let’s talk.
