World Book Day wants to change lives through a love of books and shared reading. We believe that having access to books and developing a love of reading for pleasure is vital for a child’s future and we want to bring the magic of books to children and young people everywhere.

Every year, schools, nurseries and families across the country fundraise as part of their World Book Day celebrations. Click here to find out how the funds you raise can help us in our mission to change lives through books and reading.

Reading is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success.

There are lots of ways to get involved. Whether you host a fun reading event at school, hold a sponsored reading challenge or organise your own unique fundraising event, we hope you make fundraising part of your World Book Day celebrations. Every £1 that you raise goes towards giving a child a book of their own, so no fundraising event is too small!  Below you will find easy fundraising ideas and free resources to make your fundraising a big success.

Note to schools: World Book Day leads schools’ fundraising activity including the Big Booky Breaktime. Book Aid International receives a portion of the funds raised by schools. In 2022 and 2023 the amount will be a minimum of 50% of the total funds raised by schools.

If you’ve already been busy raising money, it’s simple to donate the funds you’ve raised via our Just Giving pages.

We have JustGiving campaigns for Schools (and all fundraising related to schools) and one for all other fundraising. Please select the schools donations page if your funds have been generated by any school-related activities, or if you are an individual fundraising as part of a school.

A partnership with World Book Day will give your organisation the opportunity to encourage more children, from all backgrounds, to develop the life-long habit of reading for pleasure that will improve their life chances.

World Book Day will help you to celebrate the importance of reading together, to fundraise creatively and to engage in inspiring volunteering opportunities. Your support will help World Book Day to support and encourage today’s children to be a generation of readers, and to offer every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.

Get in touch if you are interested in working with us. We look forward to hearing from you.
