Joe’s passion for fitness was sparked at a young age, and he trained as a PE teacher after graduating from his degree in Sports Science at St Mary’s University in Twickenham. Joe helped to keep spirits high by becoming the ‘Nation’s PE Teacher’ during the 2020 lockdown. Every weekday, Joe delivered remote ‘PE’ sessions to children and adults alike – cementing his position as a national treasure. Paul Howard studied a graphic design course that specialised in illustration, and worked at the Natural History Museum before becoming a full-time illustrator. He illustrated The Bravest Ever Bear by Allan Ahlberg, which won a Blue Peter Book Award, and the enormously popular The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson – which was read by Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cambridge on CBeebies Bedtime in February 2022 as part of Children’s Mental Health Week. Paul Howard has also worked with well-known authors such as Joan Lingard, Anne Fine and Jenny Nimmo. He is the illustrator of the popular Burpee Bears series written by Joe Wicks.
